Following many requests from readers, I’m pleased to announce that we have secured a slot with John Smedley for another run of the popular Dartmoor jumper, which I designed last year.
However, we have a decision to make.
As with previous Permanent Style collaborations, the Dartmoors will only be made in one colour, in order for it to be economical. The first edition was navy (‘midnight’ in the Smedley palette). This second order could be in navy again, to give those that missed out last time a chance, or we could go for a new colour, such as grey (‘silver’), dark brown (‘espresso’) or forest green.
You can see the colours below. I’d go for grey myself, because it is so versatile, but I’ll leave it up to you to decide. Please use the comment function on this post to express your opinion. At the end of the day tomorrow, I will count up the comments and let Smedley know. Orders will then start on Monday.
For those that weren’t aware of the Dartmoor – the perfect long-sleeved polo – read the original post here.
Espresso or grey would be my favourites, Regards 🙂

Def green!
Midnight then grey. Many thanks
I already have midnight so my first choice out of those offered would be grey.
For the future Burgundy would be a good option as it would co-ordinate well with navy or grey jackets.
Green or Grey.
Green nicer, Grey more versatile
I would prefer the Forest Green Dartmoor. I bought the navy last year and have worn it several times–excellent cut. Smedley has wonderful products and colors. The Forest Green and Electric Purple are terrific.
Green
1. Midnight (as I missed out on the first one)
2. Silver Grey
Espresso – I have the navy one and for those who are unsure – it is perfect! D
Voting for midnight, then silver.

Thanks.
Midnight please – missed the first one!
green!
Espresso or the original navy. Also would it be at all possible to make them in an XS size this time around?
I’ll ask. Did you have one the first time though Wilfrid? They are pretty slim in the waist, so you can size up from the Smedley size you would normally wear. XS will be pretty tiny
Midnight.
Grey then navy please

Great to hear Dartmoor is back! I love my navy one 🙂
Grey or green for me. Weight the votes as you see appropriate!
For sizing, Is the fit in the body similar to the tyburn?
Thanks.
Yes, it is the same. The idea behind the design was to combine the fit of new pieces like the Tyburn with the classic styling (and higher collar) of the Dorset, as these make it much nicer with tailoring.
Simon

Simon – do you think the grey would work with charcoal trouser / navy blazer (perhaps one with a check)? D
With the three together, yes. And good idea to have some pattern in there so it’s not all plain. Could also add with a pocket hank
