I finally got round to looking at the analytics last week, and it appears that the traffic on Permanent Style has grown from 140,000 visitors a month to an average of 190,000 without me noticing.
The peak in September and increase in visitors from Japan suggests a certain ‘icon’ feature may have had something to do with it, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support over the past five years. I do hope you continue to like it, and don’t forget to check out The Rake online now as well.

Hi Simon,
You wonder why your blog is more and more visited by those who have an interest or have started to have an interest in menswear. To me the reason is obvious. Your blog is very very useful to those folks no matter whereabout one happens to be living in. While being … very British (!), you nonetheless display a sort of cosmopolitan perspective that is in tune with our times. I presume that this has to do with your having been educated in the humanities. And that makes a huge difference!
John
Are you a John who went to college with me? Or have you just been reading my profile website?
No, I’m not. I’m just a reader of your blog and also what you also happen to write elsewhere: Men’s Flair and City AM… I do live in Paris, but come from West Africa! As a student, I worked for two French designers for women’s wardrobe. Now your blog allows me to get a very sound overview on menswear. It is absolutely interesting to read your pieces and your comments on readers’ comments! John
Good work!
Congratulations sir — unsurprising and well deserved.

Fascinating reading throughout all of the articles I can fit in during my somewhat limited spare time, especially with regard to the skills of the many craftsmen featured. I particularly enjoy the shoemakers and wonder if one day I might transfer my leather goods skills to this discipline. Keep up your marvellous endeavours. Tim
bravo! Its a consistently great read
