The first, rather informal meeting of our industry cycling group. (Someone, please, suggest a club name with a decent pun in it.) Fifty-odd miles around the hills of Kent. From left: Hercules and Chris, Edward Green; me; Andy Murphy, Cleverley; Samuel, Troubadour leather goods; Charles, Turnbull & Asser; Euan, Edward Green.
Samuel was kind to us, given his ex-pro status, and Andy did very well given that apparently they don’t have hills in Essex. Douglas, Ollie, Alex etc – no excuses next time.

Euan gets very excited at conquering a hill.
Garmin-checking time.
As a cyclist what do you think of this cycling jacket Simon?

Love it. Designed by Tim Everest, and my wife has one. Expensive, but great detailing. The external material is surprisingly lightweight but it’s still an A/W coat – the Fox Flannel takes care of that.
simon, do you find that doing a lot of sport such as cycling changes your body shape, or mean a change when you go through of a period of not being so active, which results in bespoke clothes not fitting as well? personally I try and regulate my exercise regime now so I don’t change so much in order to keep an optimum fit .. is this bizarre behaviour on my part? it seems upsetting to have a tailor worry about 1/16 of an inch when a waistline is capable of moving 1.5 inches depending on physical activity.
Andy
No Andy, that seems perfectly rational to me. I’ve always been a bit of an exercise addict, so it’s not normally a problem, but I can appreciate the need.
I’ve been cycling for years, so I haven’t found my body has changed that substantially since buying bespoke, but yes I know friends who have had problems in that regard.
Uh oh, despite their day jobs a looks like some might need to read ‘the rules’ … http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/ 🙂
Trust me, the gorilla was tired. But I’ve never been a fan of 29-31. Or 33 for that matter
No Vulpine representation? Tsk tsk.
Simon,
Do you find that eating cheese whilst cycling can have a detrimental imimpact on your thighs?
The B Spokes?

What do I win? 😉

A B Spokes cycling cap (when I make them)
SWEET! Hand stitched I assume? Let me know when I’m needed for the first fitting.

Good stuff Simon. Now for some bespoke cycle wear?
Not sure that’s needed, at least for performance wear. Material has lots of stretch. I’ve covered Tim Everest’s bespoke cycling jackets before, but I don’t cycle in a jacket often enough to need that really. Nice crossover with functionality though…
Bespoke cycle wear, No (we have Rapha after all) but Bespoke bikes definitely mines we have some excellent frame builders in the UK.
