The Friday Polos are back in stock
Our ever-popular Friday Polos are back, in the four colours of navy, brown, green and light grey.
You can buy them on the shop page here.
Please don't forget to include the size you want and the colour(s) in the notes section.
We dropped white this time around, as it was consistently the least popular of the colours - and it allows us to do a full run of brown, which was so popular last time.
Shipping will begin on Wednesday this week. We've extended stock again, so these should last a few weeks (hopefully into the tenure of our Savile Row pop-up shop).
I continue to find my Friday Polos useful for bridging the gap between casual and formal.
Most often, they are worn with a sports jacket and trousers, as pictured here.
(I'm wearing my Dalcoure brown-donegal jacket and Caliendo cream-Pardessus trousers.)
But they also get a lot of use without a jacket. With a tailored pair of cotton trousers, for instance, they can do very well at the weekend, perhaps with a pair of loafers and a light coat.
In the images I am wearing our light-grey colour, with Tommaso Melani, Tommaso Capozzoli and Filippo Parri of Stefano Bemer wearing the other colours.
Tommaso Melani (in the navy polo) is wearing his particularly casually, with the cuffs turned back.
Our old friend Capozzoli favours the brown, which goes particularly nicely with his green tweed jacket.
And Filippo wears his green with grey worsted.
For anyone that's not familiar with the Friday Polos, including their design, handmade-in-Naples origin, and of course sizing, please see this last post here.

Hi,
Love the polo shirts, and the photographs as well. However I can’t help but be reminded of a certain Ed Miliband trying to eat a bacon sandwich when I see Simon wolfing down patisseries. A political career beckons!
Best,
Dave
There is a whole world of difference between patisserie and pastry.
Simon is most definitely not eating patisserie.
I love these shirts – they are excellent with a jacket albeit I’m not too sure about Tommaso’s cuffs.
Me thinks he’s been watching way too many Jason King re-runs!
When will we have the short sleeved version? They were a little late last year and I’ll need a couple for the summer.
Regards,
David
Hi David,
We’re working on a set for the spring, just trying through some different lightweight piques… Will try not to be late!
Despite the mixed opinions on the cuffs as mentioned here I have always admired Tommaso Melani’s style. I don’t ever remember you doing a focus/ style interview with him. Would love to see that at some point.
Sure, nice idea
Would love to see a similar interview with Tommaso Capozzoli as well, even though he might be far too humble for it.
Nah, he loves it
Haha, great, looking forward to it then 😉
Love the brown! How do you feel about wearing these in the winter? I’d always assumed they were a summer-only item but, from the pictures, it looks like they also work with heavier fabrics…
I love wearing them during the winter. Given they’re heavier than a normal shirt, it’s actually warmer under a jacket than normal. Kind of like a brushed cotton.
Ah great, I will give this a go! It might just be the lighting in the pictures but I love the way the colors have faded slightly on the darker ones…
Yes, a couple of these were from friends who’ve had them for a year or so. They have faded nicely
Hi Simon, I was planning to wait till the pop-up store opening before buying them. Your post seems to imply that they will only be available then if stock lasts that long. Is that the case ? Or are a number of them reserved for the pop-up store ?
All the best
None of them are reserved for the pop-up store I’m afraid. Going on sales so far, I’d say we’ll definitely have some by that stage, but can’t guarantee all sizes and colours will be available
Thanks for the reply Simon.
I’d better order them online to avoid missing out like last time then.
One quick question: I’ve done what you’ve suggested and measured my favourite polo. Its width is between your small and medium polo, so it’s hard to know which one to choose. I’m inclined to go for the medium one as I also have a 38″ chest like you and you wear a medium. My height is 5’11”. Are they slim fitting? Or do you find the medium a bit too loose around the waist and back?
They are relatively slim, yes. I’d imagine a medium will be better in that case
Hi Simon –
I had a quick question regarding sizing. I have a 42 inch chest (16 inch neck), so based on the measurement table laid out for the different sizes, it seems I’m between a Large and Medium. Is the Large going to look immense on my frame (I’m 6’1″ in height)?
Thank you in advance for the help!
Best,
Alex
I think it should look fine, though really the best way to tell is to compare the measurements against another polo or shirt you like the fit of. Bit of a pain, but much more reliable than me giving advice having not met you
Hey Simon, Would you think wearing a knit/grenadine tie would work with the polo?
No, not really
Hi Simon,
Is collar/cuffs lined and fused?
Regards,
Tomas
Yep.
Creates a nice clean finish to both, and the lightness of the fusing enables the collar to roll around a jacket collar in the way I like and most Italian shirts do
I’ve finally cracked and ordered one of the brown polos. It might mean a rethink on my planned Luca Faloni knitwear purchase from the pop-up shop, but I missed out on these last time around and I feel like it might be a more versatile option as we go in to the spring. Looking forward to trying it on!
What would constitute as a “cold wash” ? 30C? Or just the delicate/hand wash cycle? I usually wash my polos (and dress shirts for that matter) in 40, but I wouldn’t really consider that cold.
30C, yes. Delicate cycle also good, but they should be ok on a normal cycle.
Sorry to pivot slightly, but any chance of those exquisite tote bags reemerging? Can’t find aything similar.
I’m afraid not, no. I will take it up with Globe-Trotter again though
I purchased your polos the last run and loved the collar and make in general. I notice though that the collar band height is quite high and protrudes from the back of my sportscoat by quite a bit. On that note could I get your opinion towards an optimum amount of shirt collar that should be showing or is this a thing of preference?
It is largely a question of style preference, as evidenced by the fact that the jacket collar’s height varies between tailors. But generally it would be a quarter to a half of an inch.
I usually stipulate that the collar of a coat should come half way up the shirt collar at back. Only works of course if all your shirt collars are the same height!!

Hi Simon,
I’ve ordered my polos yesterday. Just a quick question, do you tend to send an email when you post the items with the tracking number and other postage information?
Cheers
Hi.
No the system doesn’t send one by default – they all go out within the first week anyway. But if you request one we can send it once the package goes.
Thanks
I’ve had some issues with deliveries to my work address recently, hence me asking about it. How should I go about requesting one? I’ve used the email address on this comment (if you can see it ) for my order.
If you could just email the [email protected] address and ask for one, that should be fine.
It is interesting to see these jackets side by side.
The Dalcoure has it hands down. A beautiful cut. Is it the jacket from the suit ?
The lapels and shoulders just put it in a different league.
It would be interesting to know if we are comparing bespoke to RTW or MTM ?
Regards,
David
I can’t say for all of them, but yes this is the jacket from my suit.
Tommaso Capozzoli’s (the taller Tommaso) is bespoke from Sartoria Vestucci. I believe Tommaso Melani’s is MTM.
Just ordered my first Friday Polo.
Will there be another run later in the year? I would have loved to have bought more but for me, hard to justify the price of more than one at the moment (although very reasonable).
Would these polos also work with a more casual trouser, i.e. Chinos?
Would also love to see a return of the White polo.
Yes the will be, though the next run will be a new short sleeve one, in late spring
Hey Simon any chance they will be in a lighter weight of pique cotton? The long sleeved ones are pretty thick and warm and not very suitable to wear in tropical weather (ie. Hongkong, Singapore)
The short sleeves will be, yes
Just a brief comment to say that my polo (a medium in Brown) arrived yesterday and I couldn’t be happier with it. Excellent proportions and fit, superb material, clearly very well made. This is a really high-quality garment by any measure.
Highly recommended to anyone toying with the idea of making a purchase.
Hey Simon,
Sent you an email this morning about a return/exchange. Don’t want to stress you, but at the same time don’t want to miss out on my new size running out of stock.
Thanks
Don’t worry, we ordered lots this time so shouldn’t run out.
You should receive an email with details of how to exchange soon.
Great, cheers
Hi Simon, has the color of the grey polo changed this run? I received mine today and it appears much darker than the photos – a darker shade of mid-grey rather than the light grey of the photos. Cheers,
Sam
Hi Sam,
No, it should be the same. Let me double check with Naples.
Simon
Thanks Simon. I can send a picture if needs be but it is materially different to the color indicated on the site.
Thanks Sam
Could you please send an image – to [email protected]
Hey Simon will there a another run of the long sleeve polos down the year? Looking to purchase one but don’t quite wish to do so now.
Yes, but not for a good 4/5 months. Short sleeve ones are next
Thought i’d take a punt on a couple of these. Arrived today, just tried on and have to say they look the absolute business. Great job.
Cheers Mark, nice to hear
Simon, looking through these lovely pictures again, I notice the grey polo you’re wearing has a 4 button placket, giving it more of a popover feel. Is this a an early trial model or something that will be offered moving forward?
Thanks
A trial model…
Hi Simon, I discovered the existence of these long-sleeved polos too late – am disappointed to read that the white version was discontinued! Is there any surplus stock left…?
No, sorry Marcus. We will have a new batch in a different design in November though
Hi Simon – I’m on the lookout for long sleeve polos. Are there any makers you’d recommend? I know you’ve brought up Luca Faloni in the past for their knitwear — have you tried their Brera long-sleeve polo shirts? Any thoughts here would be appreciated!
Well, obviously ours first but they’re largely sold out – if you wear a Small you might be in luck.
Otherwise, Luca’s are nice yes, though best for casual wear, not with tailoring. For tailoring, The Armoury’s are really good, or Anglo-Italian if you’re in London
